I've gone back to G2 as well. I've had enough looking for galleries. This one does just fine although it's pretty big. My friend went ahead and tried to match the theme as best as he could since I didn't keep the dkret2 mod. I was hoping that I would be able to use Thickbox with the images but maybe I can figure it out on my own.

Thank you for your comment~! I'm using Gallery2 for my family images. It isn't as hard as Coppermine to set up or use, though it took me all day to get it up and working and images moved over. It also allows my family to upload their own stuff.

I password protected the directory from the server. In your cpanel you should have an option somewhere to password protect directories. you click on that and you chose which directory and what the login/password should be. then i emailed all my family with the info!
