BSG midseason blues

I love Battlestar Galactica…especially the revised version.  I’ve been a pretty loyal fan from the very beginning.  While I still loved watching, the viewing hours were atrocious.  11pm is seriously a bad time.  So I started to just watch the DVD sets.  I was fine with that.  Then came the long break between the end of Season 3 and the DVD release and I mean longggg!!!!!

Two weeks before Season 4 began, the boxed set was finally released.  My wife and I sped through it preparing ourselves for the final season.  We had a BSG party to celebrate the Season 4 premier.  Then my wife and I slacked off a couple episodes and decided to watch it again when it finally came out on DVD.

With our move, we had satellite installed with a HD DVR for the express purpose of recording BSG’s final season.  Unfortunately, it appears that BSG is on midseason hiatus….until…..January 2009!  What?!!!!!  Utterly ridiculous!!!

I guess Sci-Fi channel knows they have us and although we, the viewers, will complain…we’ll still watch.

  1. I know I am in the minority, but I liked the cheesy original series better… couldn’t ever get into this one… just couldn’t accept Starbucks as a women for example…

  2. Not the Starbuck thing again! I originally thought I would have a problem with her as well. In fact, I did until you get a few episodes into the series where she really shines. Then they added the backstory where it tells how she becomes the mess she is today.

Out of all the characters, I think one of my favorites is Adama. I love Lorne Greene. He was awesome in Bonanza and he did really good playing Adama for his time but it was hard to see him as a military commander of an entire battlestar and the rest of the human fleet. The current Adama, played by Edward James Almos, rocks. He’s that sort of military guy that you either love him or hate him. No-nonsense, hard but loving in a way that only he could pull off.

Being in the military man myself, I can identify more with the current version more than the other. I would have done anything to make Bill Adama say “Good Job” to me. But that’s just my opinion.
