This YouTube video is a an excerpt from CNN (believe it or not). It’s a brief portrait of a 12 year old girl who claims it is her faith that allows her to paint as the masters. She also taught herself to play piano and now composes her own music.

Clone Wars in theaters soon

I’m pretty excited about this. Although I’m a huge Star Trek fan, I’m sort of a Star Wars nut as well. I have to get every novel that is released and heaven forbid if I don’t read them in order! I remember my parents taking me to Star Wars: A New Hope when it first came out. We went to the drive-in (now those are memories). I think I almost peed my pants when I saw Darth Vader for the first time but I was from then on hooked on sci-fi.

The latest SW movie should be no different. It may be animated but I imagine the storyline is anything but childish. The past minisodes of Clone Wars met with rave reviews. I expect nothing less with this movie.

Following the movie, the animated TV series. Yes, that’s right! This is going to blow the droids cartoon back in the 1980′s out of the water! Of course, only those hard-core and older fans remember the made-for-TV SW movie aired during the Christmas season. I can’t remember if it was late 70′s or early 80′s (kinda a blur).

Don’t let this event pass you by. As I mentioned, it may be a cartoon but the story is anything but.

BSG midseason blues

I love Battlestar Galactica…especially the revised version. I’ve been a pretty loyal fan from the very beginning. While I still loved watching, the viewing hours were atrocious. 11pm is seriously a bad time. So I started to just watch the DVD sets. I was fine with that. Then came the long break between the end of Season 3 and the DVD release and I mean longggg!!!!!

Two weeks before Season 4 began, the boxed set was finally released. My wife and I sped through it preparing ourselves for the final season. We had a BSG party to celebrate the Season 4 premier. Then my wife and I slacked off a couple episodes and decided to watch it again when it finally came out on DVD.

With our move, we had satellite installed with a HD DVR for the express purpose of recording BSG’s final season. Unfortunately, it appears that BSG is on midseason hiatus….until…..January 2009! What?!!!!! Utterly ridiculous!!!

I guess Sci-Fi channel knows they have us and although we, the viewers, will complain…we’ll still watch.

BSG Season 3 coming to DVD

I’ve been waiting for this moment for months. I’ve diligently been checking the SciFi forums (to my consternation since they don’t mind revealing spoilers and such) as well as Amazon.com for updates on the DVD release. So for those that must have their BSG fix check your stores on 18 March 2008.

I’m on of those nuts who wait until the DVD’s come out. I didn’t use to be that way but when SciFi moved Battlestar to the 11:00 PM slot, I just couldn’t continue. I may not be elderly but with 6 kids around…you get tired and you get tired early.

The new and final season of BSG starts April 4. Once I watch season 3, I’ll write about it.
