Vogel Center is near the county line of Missaukee and Osceola Counties. Marion is a few miles away in one direction and McBain is a few miles away in the other. The family farm where my father was born is also near the county line (on the Middle Branch of the Clam River). Falmouth is another small town nearby. There's a store and gas station that carries the Vogel Center name.

If your relative was a farmer around Vogel Center, you might want to read "80 Acres" by Ronald Jager - a reminiscence of a farm in the area.

Hi Carol. Manna Teuben, born 17 October 1877 in Oudedijk (Beerta), The Netherlands, died 20 June 1964. She was a daughter of Jan Teuben, born 1842 in Bellingwolde (Netherlands) and Berendje Velger, born 1845 in Bunde (Germany). Jan and Berendje married on 17 August 1870 in Beerta (Netherlands). Manna Teuben married Jan Rand on 11 May 1895 in Beerta but later divorced him. Their son Jan ('John') was born 1896 in Nieuweschans (Netherlands). On 30 April 1904 Manna married Elzo Doddema. With him she had 6 children: Geert (1903), Marina (1904), Pannis (1905, Miniw (1908), Piet (1909) and Elso (1919). Geert, Marina and Pannis were born in Nieuweschans (Netherlands), Minie, Piet and Elso were born in the U.S (Grundy, Iowa). I don't know anything on Geert, Marina and Pannis. Piet married Mary C. Holm and had 9 children with her. Elso married Lois NN and they had 4 daughters (Hazel, Shirley, Carol and Patty).

Thanks Henk. I also found the reference to her at the following URL: http://www.graftombe.nl/names/info/564733/Doddema

Unfortunately, it doesn't tell us anything more. Hopefully someone else will know more.

I found some additional information: 'Gonnie' Oosterwerff-Doddema, died 2002. Cremated. The urn is kept at the 'Schoterhof' cemetary in Heerenveen, Friesland (Netherlands).

Just figured this blog business out. Love the site, Bernard. I believe I posted some info last year, but as with the rest of you, time slips by.

Janey and I are still in Chatham, Illinois, 4 miles outside of the capitol (Springfield.) We moved here 2 1/2 years ago from the Chicago area. Our 4 kids are spread out a little, Ingrid is in Montgomery, IL, with sisters Mindy and Amanda, not too far away in Downers Grove and Schaumburg (O'Hare Airport area)
Only son, Mark, is in Seattle.
As I'm just getting familiar with the site, I haven't seen any posts from Ben and Rita, my cousin.
Appreciate the site and let me know if you need anything from me.

Update: I mentioned in the post that Marion is part of Clam Union Township. According to Histopolis.com, the Vogel Center Cemetery is to be considered in Clam Union Township!

I'll make a note above where to find the information.
