Gedcom update-3/26/2013
It's been almost 4 months since my last gedcom update. I didn't take the time to compute how many documents or individuals were added but I can honestly say, it was not a small amount. I plan on making gedcom updates monthly to reflect my work.
The main reason it's taking more time is I'm also reconciling my records with the new FamilySearch FamilyTree as well as combining the many duplicate records that are out there…and there are many. Some individuals had more than 6 records! It takes a lot of work combining these records as well as adding all my sources as well.
Why do all this work? I spend alot of my time working on this project. It's one of my life goals (besides being the best husband and father that I can be!) to have as complete a family history as possible, not just for myself but for later generations! I try to be as thorough as I can. Heck, I'm still learning and fixing mistakes I've made myself in the past 20 years. Family history is a continual learning curve. Take that and add all the FamilySearch submissions and you have a handful!
By taking the time now, adding my sources and reasons why I believe my information is the most correct should ensure less mistakes in the future.
How can you help? Be patient as I work. Pray for me. Ask questions! Send more information my way including photos of significant events.

Wientje Doddema, born 30 May 1887 Nieuweschans, labourer, died?. Son of Tammo Doddema (1857-1935) and Nettje Loers (1853-1919). Married on 11 February 1911 in Beerta with Jantje Prins, born 1891 Nieuw Beerta (Beerta), daughter of Jan Prins and Hilke Noor. Wientje and Jantje were divorced on 23 March 1955 in Groningen. Jantje had an illegitimate child with the name of Hilke, born 21 january 1911 in Nieuw Beerta (Beerta), who was legalized on 11 February 1911 by Wientje, when he married Jantje. Wientje and Jantje had 6 children together: 1. Tammo, born 23 August 1912 in Nieuw Beerta (Beerta). He married on 10 November 1939 in Nieuweschans with Lammechien ten Cate, born 14 October 1915 in Sappemeer. They had one daughter, Gerda Binie, born 1941 in Nieuweschans. The family went to Australia, where Gerda Binie married an Australian. Lammechien came back to the Netherlands. 2. Piet Johan, born 1 december 1921, dock-labourer in Rotterdam. He married Kirsten Margrethe Pedersen, born 21 July 1922. He died 11 September 2000 in Rotterdam. No children. 3. Jan, born 29 July 1923, dock-labourer, labourer in an aluminum factory, Busdriver in Bergen (Norway). He married Ranveig Thomsen, born 14 July 1926 (in Norway?), died 19 September 2006. She was a cleaner on the ferry Amsterdam-Bergen. (see below). 4. Frans, born ?, died ?. Married Corry ?. One daughter with the name of Sylvia. No further information. 5. Maria, born ?, died ?. Married nn McGinty (probably living in Los Angeles, USA). 6. Martha, born ?, died ?. Married Lars Golten. Living in Rotterdam?
Children of Jan Doddema and Ranveig Thomsen: 1. Astrid Jeanette, born 15 April 1945, died 22 September 2002 in Bergen (Norway). She married Per Hoff and had three children. She had a shop in antique furnitures and cloth in Bergen. 2. Karen Margrethe, born 16 May 1950. She married Eric Carlmark. They have two children. 3. Else Marie, born 27 April 1955. She married Ivar Johan Larsen and they have two children. 4. Jon, born 27 July 1960, busdriver and restorer of old cars. He married first with Ingvild Odland (1983) and has two children with her. After his divorce, he married Berit Haukoy, busdriver and owner of a horse riding stable. They have one child.
All the descendents of Jan and Ranveig live in Norway as far as I know.

I am the youngest daughter of Maria McGinty (former Doddema) who was mentioned in the post. She married had been living in the Southern California (USA) area. My older sister had been in contact with Jon for a while then lost contact. If you know how to get in contact with him or know if he would still like to be in contact with us, please contact me at my email I would like to go into further detail but do not feel entirely comfortable on a public message board and would perfer that someone contact me or my sister privately . I tried to register but was unable to. If you have my email contact me there. My older sister was trying to get in contact with Jon Doddema but lost contact with him.
I look forward to making some contact with the Doddema family and I am interested in hearing from my mothers side.
