BAGLEY, Midred V. "Millie"
Portage
Passed away peacefully from her home into the arms of her beloved Lord on Saturday morning, March 4, 2006. Millie was born in Kalamazoo, on January 20, 1924 to Joseph Walter Hobbs and Hattie Louise (Kuhns) Hobbs and was a lifelong resident in the Kalamazoo/Portage area. On her 17th Birthday, January 20, 1941, she was united in marriage to Carl Jefferson Bagley, who preceded her in death in 1978. Millie was a devoted wife and mother and was very proud of her family. She was a member of Oakwood Bible Church for 52 years where she had served as a Sunday school teacher and nursery worker for over 40 years. Over the years she had also sung in the church choir, served as an Awana leader and helped in the kitchen for Young at Heart dinners. Millie also worked as a library assistant at Ramona Lane Elementary school and at Spring Manor, where she resided. After her children were raised, Millie returned to school to fulfill her dream of finishing her education and received her high school diploma in 1986 at the age of 62. She is survived by her eight children: Patricia L. Bagley of Fredericksburg, VA; Carl J. (Phyllis) Bagley, Jr of Goshen, IN; Dianne K. Pickrell of Portage, Phyllis E. (Jeoffrey) Jenkins of Lexington, IL; William J. (Gloria) Bagley of Preston, ID, Timothy J. (Jeannie) Bagley of Aurora, CO; JeanAnne F. (Kevin) Bowers of Portage and Shannon D. Bagley of Portage; 24 grandchildren; and soon to be 44 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by two sisters, Hazel Parks of Kalamazoo and Eldora Higgins of Dayton, TN; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her two brothers, John Allman and James Hobbs and three sisters, Helen Demereck, Pearl Hockett and Leota Ross. Funeral services for Mrs. Bagley will be at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday March 7, 2006 at Oakwood Bible Church, 4100 Oakland Drive, with her son, Rev. William Jay Bagley and her grandson, Rev. William John Bagley officiating. Interment will follow in Prairieville Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family, Monday, March 6, 2006 from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick Street. As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be directed to Oakwood Bible Church, Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan, or Kalamazoo Gospel Mission.
